We visited the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium today located in Litchfield Park, AZ, where this beautiful stingray said hello. They have a Stingray tank where people can interact with them and feed them. Needless to say, they were very friendly… a little more so than the Phoenix Zoo Stingrays, but they may have needed a break from the human spectators for a bit. I thought I would begin this blog with a loyal friend and companion, Maddie. She is a twelve year old greyhound we adopted in 2003 while living in Michigan. She’s sweet, affectionate, and loves to keep me company while I’m working in my front studio, although this image shows her sleeping on our bed (another favorite resting spot). We also have another greyhound, Hero, who is very affectionate as well. I’ll post some tidbits about him one day soon.
If you’re looking to adopt a new family member, I would definitely recommend this breed. There are wonderful greyhound rescues across the nation that will take the time to visit your home and match you with the perfect dog for your lifestyle. It is a misconception that these dogs are hyper and/or high energy, when in fact their nickname is “Couch Potato”. Yes, they love their daily walks and if you have an enclosed baseball field or dog park nearby, they would love the opportunity to run around off leash (only in a safe enclosed area), but usually it only lasts about five to ten minutes, then they’re looking for a soft bed to lay on.
